The ice events will be held in Harbin, using the existing venues from the 1996 Asian Winter Games, while the snow events will be in Yabuli, 193 km from Harbin. US: Brush Fire Erupts In Del Mar Heights, San Diego 3

A brush fire erupted in the Del Mar Heights neighborhood in San Diego on Tuesday morning, June 25. The fire near Mira Montana Drive off Del Mar Heights Road prompted the mandatory evacuation of 2,500 residents from the area. The fire's forward progress was stopped by about 5:30 p.m. and all evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted by 7:20 p.m.

KAGOSHIMA, Japan - Yuji Hyakutake, an amateur astronomer, died April 10 in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, from internal bleeding due to a heart aneurysm, his family said April 11. He was 51. He discovered ''Comet Hyakutake'' on Jan. 30, 1996, using powerful binoculars in the town of Hayato in Kagoshima.

Tomiichi Murayama

Born March 3, 1924 in Oita Prefecture. Murayama was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1972. He served as prime minister Jan. 30, 1994 to Jan. 11, 1996, leading a coalition government of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Social Democratic Party and the defunct New Party Sakigake. He retired from politics in 2000. Photo was taken February 2000.

Born in July 1937 in Tokyo. Hashimto was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1963 following the death of his father, also a politician. During his long career at the very heart of Japan's conservative money-and-faction politics, Hashimoto never lost the image of a maverick with no truly faithful friends. He served as prime minister between Jan. 11, 1996 and July 30, 1998. Photo was taken on April 28, 2000.
